I agrree...it doesn't really matter cuz Jesus doesn't care who we belong to as long as we love him and try to follow him...
Tho I do find some other things not right...I won't mention which churches I've seen doing this and I'm not really sure that all communities of their kind acts as such. But I have seen Churches which actually ask people to pay regularly for their membership. Whatever anybody says to me, that is so not ok, I mean they're supposed to be promoting belief and love and tolerance, not encourage people to be desperate for money - cuz if there is any institute that should not obligate people to pay taxes - then that is the Church. I am not saying - we are giving our Church a few coins as well every Sunday, but it's really something optional and my acceptance into the Church does not depend on that.

i'm not sure exactly what is being talked about here because the first post is gone.. is it about fund raising?
keep in mind that all the money we have is a gift from God and the Church has only us to fund it...

Most Protestant churches in my country have new "get-rich" schemes; very annoying. 7 Pastors, and we have to care for them all. They've stopped working, but drive the newest cars.
No, no. Not good.

As a Catholic, I can not speak for other denominations. In our Church there are no dues. There is simply an offering.. a collection in which we give according to how we feel moved to give. Some laypeople use an envelope for the purpose of claiming taxes at year end. That's not mandatory but by free choice. I'm not working right now and sometimes I just don't have the money. Other times I am working and can afford to give.. sometimes more, sometimes less. The Church does not judge me accordingly. The Church is not even aware of what I as an individual gives because I choose not to use an envelope. As Avemaria mentioned, the Church must rely on the generosity of her Parishioners. This generosity goes according to how each of us is moved in Spirit to attribute and can not be judged by others especially when we never know the true situation of anyone's position.
We ought not look at others and decide how they should attribute. I remember as a child asking my mom one time in the car if we could stop at McDonald's for lunch.. She said "No, we cannot afford it. We have plenty of food at home." When we got home a little later she sat her purse on the kitchen table and proceeded to take out a large amount of money to give to dad. not understanding, I protested saying "Mom, I thought you said we had no money!" She replied, "I didn't say we had no money. I said we can't afford McDonald's" The money was for the mortgage. I was a kid. I saw that money and immediately assumed we were millionaires. The truth was, just like so many others we were struggling to make ends meet. The point I'm trying to make is that so often we can perceive a situation to be one way and in reality it is not that way at all. Only God knows the entire situation. Thus, only God can make a complete proper judgement.

Very good point, John-Boy.
We must give our tithes and offerings, of course, as you say, and I agree, we must not be obliged to do so. That is why I love the Catholic Church's view on this.
No one is forced to give. If he can't - he simply can't.
We have at least 7 offerings / Sunday. That excludes your tithe and payments to your pastor.
That is what I mean by 'stuck up'. Protestant preachers have become 'money preachers'. And that's just wrong.
We must love everyone, and I won't judge them, but they must see their errors.
God bless.
